1997 Subaru Legacy Engine Inspection Estimate $75-$150+

subaru engine 1 300x225 1997 Subaru Legacy Engine Inspection Estimate $75 $150+Need borescope to look inside head to see if valves are bent and/or damaged.

Dennis Hoffer

Hi Dennis,

Not sure if you want to buy a borescope to check your valves yourself, or if you want an estimate for getting your engine inspected by someone who already has one. So, I'll quote you on an inspection and give you the price of a borescope.

I've seen borescopes go for anything from $28-$700+ depending on the quality you want.

To have a shop do the inspection for you they're going to have to take a decent amount of your engine apart, so there are going to be fees.

Hi Angela,

The cost of a 90K maintenance is hard to quote because I don't know what you've recently had done. Most of what it is, is fluid and filter changes which are super easy to do on your own. The other main component is a brake check, but if you've recently had your brakes worked o,n you can skip that.

They should also do a belt check, which may be a little more difficult for a beginner, so you might wanna have the shop take a look, but don't commit to anything until you get a second opinion.

Parts= Brake pads $15-$60, rotors $40-$115, calipers $40-$120, brake line $20-$85 depending on the quality of the parts.

Labor= 1.5-2.5 hours $100-$200 depending on the shop's hourly rate and the skill of the mechanic.

This estimate is for just the front brakes. If you need to replace all four expect to pay double.

First of all, you’re going to need a Phillips-head screwdriver to get the job done, although, it is easier with a drill. This is the only tool required to perform a cabin filter replacement.

Begin by opening up the glove box and taking everything out. The filter is located behind the glove box. Once you’ve cleaned out your glove box, go ahead and close it up, because you’re going to want to start on the exterior screws in order to remove the whole glove box assembly.

SubaruImpreza 150x150 How to replace high beam headlight bulbs for your 2006 Subaru ImprezaFirst thing’s first, you’re going to need an adjustable crescent wrench to perform this maintenance. If you don’t have one, you can pick one up with your new bulb at the local auto parts store. Selecting a replacement bulb is another factor you’ll want to consider. There are a lot of bulbs out there for all makes and models, so to save some time, ask an employee to look up the part for your Impreza on the computer database. If you want to upgrade your bulb, it will cost you, but for the standard bulb, which comes stock on the Impreza, it should be right around $10.00.
