E85 fuel is 85% ethanol fuel. The remaining 15% is gasoline. E85 is environmentally friendlier fuel burning cleaner than regular gasoline and it has high performance characteristics. E85 is a renewable fuel source that helps reduce greenhouse gases and pollution. You may have heard the term corn fuel as in United States ethanol is commonly produced from corn.

Not all cars can be filled with E85 fuel and not all gas stations offer E85. The car that can use E85 are so called flexible fuel vehicles. You can fill them up with gasoline or E85. There are around 7 million flexible fuel cars. Chrysler, Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, GM, Isuzu, Mazda, Mercedes, Nissan and Toyota offer flexible fuel vehicles. When looking for a gas station to fill up with E85, your best bet is if you live in the Midwest. There are over 2000 gas stations offering E85 across the U.S.

How does the price of E85 compare to regular gasoline?

The price of E85 is currently less than gasoline. National average of E85 is approximately $2.25 and for gasoline $2.72 (as of March 10th, 2010). You can follow E85 price trends and comparisons to gasoline on E85prices.com. However, having E85 in your tank may get you less miles per gallon.
