Honda Motor Co. and Volkswagen AG have selected factory to dealer transporter Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics to handle vehicle processing and manage inventory on the ground at the automakers factories.

 Wallenius is owned by Wallenius lines AB, of Sweden, and Wilh. Wilhelsen of Norway.  Both companies represent about 26 percent of the world’s fleet of carriers, according to a Wallenius spokesperson. The company transported 2.7 million vehicles worldwide in 2009.

 Honda’s plant in Lincoln, Alaska marks the third such contract between the automaker and Wallenius, while Volkswagen’s Chattanooga, Ten plant will be the first. Wallenius also provides Volkswagen with supply chain management services in South Africa, as well as Ocean transportation services in Europe, Oceania and Africa.
