The cost of replacing your brake pads and shoes will come down to parts and labor. Here's what you can expect to pay on average:

Parts= Pads $13-$70 and shoes $12-$40 depending on the quality of the parts.

Labor= 1-2 hours $75-$150 depending on the shop's hourly rate and the skill of the mechanic.

Total= $100-$260+

If you don't mind getting a little dirty and working with your hands,  I'd suggest you try this repair on your own to cut back on expensive labor costs.

Replacing brake pads  and shoes is on the easier side of an intermediate level fix, and requires minimal tools.
