How to change a brake light in a pickup truck
Changing a broken or burned out light bulb in pickup truck is a little more complicated than changing it in a regular sedan. If you are not prepared it may turn out to be a frustrating experience. Luckily, it's not that much complicated, especially when you are prepared for a little more work than when changing the brake light in the family car.
If you are not sure if your brake light is burned out, you can check the brake lights yourself.
* Take out the tail light lens - the plastic cover that houses the light bulbs for brake lights, tail lights and signal lights
You need to remove bolts that are holding the cover in place. Find the location of the bolts and take the bolts out.
* Gently remove the lens - you may see the lens still connected with clips - remove the clips.
You can still see wires that are connected - you do not remove these.
* Take out the light bulb that is out.
* Put in the new light bulb - if you insert the new light bulb correct you do not need to force it in.
* Check to make sure the new light bulb is working before putting the lens back on.
* Put the lens back on, reversing steps to taking it out. Make sure the lens goes on properly with rubber clips in place.
